The Beginning
Chinese Fireworks Co. was founded with a simple goal — to supply quality fireworks backed by honest advice and personal service.
I developed a passion for fireworks from a young age, opening my first shop at just 17, where I began selling them alongside a grocery business. The first year proved highly successful, enabling me to establish direct relationships with importers and significantly expand the range. In 1979, following my father’s illness, I moved into his post office premises on The Wicker in Sheffield’s industrial heart, where the fireworks side of the business grew substantially.
Growing Reputation
By 1995, demand had increased to such an extent that we relocated to larger, dedicated premises focused solely on fireworks — establishing Pagoda Bank at 2 London Road, Sheffield, as a true landmark. From there, we built a reputation stretching from Land’s End to John O’Groats, welcoming customers from across the UK and becoming one of the country’s leading independent fireworks retailers.
Word spread quickly as families and event organisers returned year after year — building a reputation for quality, value and reliability.

Over the years, we have proudly served everyone from royalty and celebrities to unique and memorable customers — from supplying procession torches to the nudist society, to even a pet budgie that delighted in the screech of whistling rockets.
